Church history.
The Mount Grove Baptist Church began on the Luther Lowe Farm northwest of Garland, Arkansas in 1928. Mr. Lowe donated a house that was converted into a church situated on a hill, hence the name.
Over the years, the church moved locations several times until settling in Texarkana in the mid 20th century. There have been many pastors and leaders who have shepherded the flock over the decades.
In the late 1990s and 2000s, under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Reid Sr., the church grew tremendously, both spiritually and physically. A new sanctuary was built at 2801 Arkansas Boulevard and dedicated in 2004.
Since relocating, the church has expanded its ministry through outreach programs like a homeless shelter ministry. A school of ministry was also started.
In recent years, the church has continued to remodel and improve its facilities while also expanding its online presence. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the church found creative ways to minister to and bless the community through food and gift distributions.
Looking to 2024 and beyond, the church remains focused on its mission to be a beacon of light and hope in the community through caring, compassionate and committed service in the name of Christ. The future looks bright as the church builds on the strong foundation laid by previous generations of faithful leaders and members
