MEET THE PASTOR

A native of Texarkana, Arkansas and graduate of Arkansas High School. He excelled in football and track earning football scholarship to Arkansas State University. While attending Arkansas State University, he was the Minister of Music for the United Voices Choir. Upon graduating from Arkansas State University in 1992, with a Bachelor of Science in Math he accepted his call to the ministry.  His father the Late Rev. Joseph E. Reid Sr., licensed and ordained him in ministry.  He taught him the principle in the power of prayer and the word of God. Upon moving to Memphis, united with the Golden Gate Cathedral where he served as youth pastor and associate minister. Ministry was birthed in him by his pastor Bishop Edward H. Stephens Jr. through his great mentoring and leadership.

His pastorate beginning was at his great grandfather’s church, New Hope Baptist Church where he served for 2 years.  The church grew and lives were changed through his preaching and teaching.  In 1997, he was called to Pastor the Mt. Grove Baptist Church where God has truly blessed the church tremendously.  The church has grown from 118 members to connecting with thousands in attendance.  He has added a host of deacons, elders, ministers, messengers, over 25 ministries that help meet the needs of the people and the community, added a full and part-time administrative staff, and developed preparatory school of ministry classes.

In 2004 the ministry built a million dollar plus edifice that is located on 12 acres of land. With a God-given vision for God’s people there several more phases to build for the glory of God.  

He has received an honorary doctorate degree from St. Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida. He also has a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M-Texarkana. He has received certification as a math teacher in the states of Arkansas and Texas.  He’s currently employed with LEISD district as an At Risk Coordinator.

Pastor Reid is a member of the Association of Independent Ministries (AIM)/Bishop I.V. Hilliard, Rhema Apostolic Network/ Apostle Carlos Malone, and Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

Pastor Reid is married to his college sweetheart, the lovely Linda Reid, and they are blessed with three children: one daughter, Kirsten, and two sons, Kenneth "KJ" Reid Jr. and Kendall. Additionally, he has a daughter-in-law, Brooklynne who is married to KJ.
